Paid-on-Premise Applications & Testing
Applications are now CLOSED for this eligibility list. The District accepts applications for part-time personnel on an as-needed basis. To be placed on a list to be notified when applications are again being accepted, contact Countryside at (847) 367-5511 or info@countrysidefire.com.
The Countryside Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners will hold examinations for qualified persons for the purpose of filling part-time, paid-on-premise firefighter positions.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- U.S. citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Possess valid drivers license, which must be shown as ID at all phases of testing
- Minimum age of 21 on or before September 1, 2010, or
Age of 19 with 2 years experience as Fire Cadet, Explorer, and/or Tech Campus
fire/EMS student, with a letter of recommendation from advisor/program director
and a minimum GPA of 2.75 (based on a high school/college 4.0 scale) - Reside in Lake County, IL at time of application
- Good moral character and meeting all requirements of the Board of Commissioners of Countryside Fire Protection District and State of Illinois (Board Rules available at 600 N. Deerpath Drive, Vernon Hills, IL.)
Testing Process:
- Attend mandatory orientation session
- Must pass job task (physical ability) test
- Must pass written exam
- Must pass oral interview
- Additional exams/testing required to fill open positions from eligibility list

Deerpath Drive, Vernon Hills, IL (847-367-5511). Completed applications must be returned to Station 2 no later than 4:00 PM on June 4, 2010.
