Career Eligibility List Testing
Applications are now CLOSED for this eligibility list. Tentatively, the next career eligibility list application/testing process will be in 2012. Countryside also periodically accepts applications for part-time, paid-on-premise positions. Contact Countryside at (847) 367-5511 to be placed on a list to be notified when part-time applications are being accepted.
The Countryside Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners will hold examinations for qualified persons to establish an eligibility roster from which Firefighter/Paramedic vacancies will be filled.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- U.S. citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Possess valid drivers license, which must be shown as ID at all phases of testing
- Minimum age of 21 by June 1, 2010, and less than 35 (unless previous firefighter experience meeting statutory exceptions of 70 ILCS 705-16.06)
- Copy of valid CPAT card required with application (Successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) conducted by a licensed agency within 12 months prior to the application due date (April 26, 2010) is required.)
- Good moral character and meeting all requirements of the Board of Commissioners of Countryside Fire Protection District and State of Illinois (Board Rules available at 600 N. Deerpath Drive, Vernon Hills, IL.)
- Illinois state certified Firefighter II
- Illinois licensed EMT-B at time of application; EMT-P to be considered for hiring from eligibility list
Testing Process:
- Attend mandatory orientation session
- Must pass written exam
- Must pass oral interview
- Additional exams/testing required to fill open positions from eligibility list
Applications must be picked up in person at Countryside Fire Protection District station #2, 600 N. Deerpath Drive, Vernon Hills, IL (847-367-5511). Completed applications must be returned to Station #2 no later than 4:00 PM on April 26, 2010.
