| The hose tender's primary purpose is to provide up to 4,000 feet of 5" hose at the scene of a fire. Typically these are fires in the rural setting where there are no traditional fire hydrants or possibly in an area where there has been a catastrophic problem with the water main. All of the tools and equipment carried on 4-118 help with obtaining water to supply the fire scene from dry hydrants, wet hydrants or ponds and lakes. This vehicle is powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V71 and an Allison transmission. It has a 200 gallon water tank and a 1250 GPM pump. This vehicle is shared as part of an agreement with Long Grove and Wauconda Fire Departments and is housed at Station One. |

| The hovercraft is used for rescue operations where access is limited. We can fly it over land, water and ice. The hovercraft flies above the surface on a blanket of air and can travel at speeds up to 50 MPH. Two rescuers ride the hovercraft and there is a space for a rescue stretcher on board. A 50 horsepower snowmobile engine powers the 12 foot hovercraft. It was built in 1998 by Neoteric in Indiana. |
